THE INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AS A TOOL FOR RISK MANAGEMENT

Scientific Responsible: Prof. Riccardo Beltramo

The panel will deal with the relationships between the application of the Integrated Management Systems and the Risk-management issue. An Integrated Management System merges into a single management tool two or more of the internationally models of Quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001), Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001) and Social Responsibility (SA8000).

Even if it is possible to integrate all the afore-mentioned international standards, historically the integration of the management systems has interested the quality and environmental issues.

While the current revision of ISO 9001 standard introduces the necessity to plan a Risk based system in order to evaluate, for any kind of organisation, the different quality risks according to a punctual analysis, the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 Standard can help the Top management in the identification and contrast to the environmental implications therefore ensuring the compliance with the environmental legal requirements. Within this panel is encouraged the submission of contributions addressing the following subjects:

  • ISO 9001 and the Risk-based Management Systems;
  • Risk Management and environmental assessment;
  • Integrated Management Systems and legal requirements;
  • Integrated Management Systems and the 231 model.
